My great twins boys gave me a nice Father's Day present this weekend- they both ran the Dadfest 5K with me on Saturday. It's June in Texas, so of course it's miserably hot and humid- was maybe 84 degrees and 90% humidity at race time, but we ran hard anyway.
As usual, Xan won, although only by a minute or so. Everyone's times were slower- a combination of the weather, the grueling 2nd-half that was all uphill and into a strong wind, and, um, perhaps a less than stellar training regiment lately.
A couple of my long time friends- Paul and Shawn- ran their first ever 5Ks at this event- a great achievement. Afterward we all went out for an excessively large breakfast buffet.
